The Sala Terrena in Mozart's House is located bang in the centre of historical Vienna, close to both St. Stephan's Cathedral and Hofburg. It has been in existence since the second half of the 12th Century, built as part of the monastery of the German Teutonic Order. In 1781 Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart lived here at the monastery and played several concerts at the Sala Terrena on behalf of Archbishop Colloredo. The name, in Italian, means 'Hall of the Ground Floor' and Sala Terrena is considered the oldest music hall in Vienna. The Baroque-style music hall has beautiful acoustics and is a premier venue for classical music concerts.
