Brahms Hall of Viennese Music Association

The Wiener Musikverein, or the Viennese Music Association in English, is a world-famous concert hall in Vienna, Austria, which opened on January 6, 1870. Emperor Franz Joseph gave a piece of land on which the concert hall was built by the Gesellschaft der Musikfreunde Wien. This building stands on Dumbastraße, between Bösendorferstraße and Karlsplatz, just behind the Imperial Hotel. The Brahms Hall within has an intimate setting of about 600 seats and is a beloved venue, especially for chamber music ensembles. Johannes Brahms has also performed in the hall and was a driving force behind making this venue a popular hub for classical music performances. It is home to the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra.
